A Gentle JourneyWhat to expect at this Mandala – Mask Making workshop.
Friday
After a demonstration of how this is done you will be invited to pair up, get comfortable with the information and then proceed to create the mask from a soft, pliable, quick drying plaster. This can be extremely relaxing .
Note: Your nose will never be closed in so it will
always be easy to breathe. If you tend to be claustrophobic we
have other choices that will allow you to create a mask on a plastic
form.

Why Mandala-Mask?
The word Mandala is loosely translated to mean circle. It comes from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. It represents something whole and can be viewed as a symbol of the structure of life. We are treating it as a contemplative work. No rules as to what is right, wrong, good or bad.
You will be putting onto your mask an expression of YOU with the added perspective of the mandala as representing wholeness. From this coupling of mask and mandala we feel that a connection to self inquiry with a larger viewpoint of wholeness adds a rich texture to how we uniquely connect in our worlds. A mask of your own face is undeniably powerful in its ability to mirror back Self and provides a wonderful opportunity to explore more of that Self as this process brings parts of the unconscious to our awareness.
This workshop is designed as a means to bring the unseen aspects of ourselves to the surface to be seen, to become aware of and to move towards greater awareness and celebration of all of who we are.
